Elementary Cow Parade

Elementary Cow Parade
In 1998, a sculptor created life-size cows for local artists to decorate and created cow parades to display their artwork throughout their city. Arcadia Elementary 4th grade students learned what 3D artwork is, how cows are important to the Wisconsin economy and our heritage, how the cow sculptures are displayed and what can happen to them while on display. Each student is working on their WI research project in their home rooms and had the opportunity to continue that project themes by designing their very own cow. Project themes include the Milwaukee Bucks, cheese or cheese making, the robin (state bird), Georgia O’Keeffe, Frank Lloyd Wright, and the whitetail deer. Mrs. Palkowski created their very own cow parade in the elementary hallway for all students to see! Students came up with their own criteria and completed self-reflection on the following; did they follow their WI research themes, the amount of detail, unique design of cow and the effort they put into the creation of their cow.
