High School Launches Body Shop Fitness Class
Arcadia High School has launched a new Physical Education class called Body Shop Fitness. Students learn fitness concepts through non-traditional and current trend activities. Currently, students are learning a three-step rhythm through the traditional Philippine folk dance called Tinikling. The dance involves tapping, and sliding poles on the ground and against each other in coordination with dancers who step over and in between the poles in a dance. Students are graded on their roles and responsibilities, difficulty of the dance, control of the pole, how partners transition and the overall flow of their dance. Other topics explored in the course include other types of aerobic dance, yoga, and stress management. Additionally, the course is transcripted through University of Wisconsin - Oshkosh for (3) physical education credits.
Thank you to Arcadia’s Hardware Hank for the donation of the poles for this class!
