Great work, students, staff, and parents, on the Phones in the Zones challenge! By the end of the challenge in December, we had 106 classrooms with 100% of phones in the zones—that’s nearly every classroom in the building! This has had a noticeable impact on our students’ ability to stay focused and engaged in their learning.
To keep the momentum going, all teachers will be using rosters next to the zones for phones. This approach has been a simple but effective way to encourage students to consistently place their phones in the designated areas. Parents, we ask for your continued support at home by reminding your students of the importance of staying focused during class time. The decrease in distractions is making a real difference!
A huge congratulations goes out to the many teachers and classrooms that excelled during the challenge. Twenty-one teachers averaged over 90% of phones in the zones, and more than half of our teachers recorded perfect scores during the final week. Our winning class periods were Mrs. Severson's 3rd period and Mr. Pronschinske's 4th period, both of which were randomly drawn from the 40 class periods that had 100% phones in the zones and received free pizza!
We also want to extend a huge “thank you” to Kwik Trip and McDonald's for generously providing coupons and certificates for our recent challenges. Their contributions helped recognize and reward the hard work of our students and staff.
Once again, thank you for your ongoing partnership in maintaining an academic focus at Arcadia High School. Together, we’re creating an environment where students can continue to grow and thrive!
